UNMANNED SYSTEMS OF EAST TEXAS, INC. (USET), has numerous on-going projects at this time. Due to the confidential nature of those agreements and projects we are not at liberty to discuss specifics We do stand firm in saying,"UNMANNED SYSTEMS will play a important role in the future of this country as well as mankind." USET is dedicated to serving as a catalyst to determine the next course of action in the UNMANNED SYSTEMS INDUSTRY.
The HAUAV PROJECT has undergone many changes over the years. We have grown from a 35m dollar project to a 250m dollar project and due to recent events this figure has changed again. We were able to secure 120m in support for this project prior to the most recent presidential election. We felt we could find the addtional funding needed to complete the effort since we were talking with potential sponsors at that time.
We have tested numerous prototypes that were not to scale. This gave us valuable feedback and allowed us to make changes to our final prototypes. Our plan was to build 2 full scale prototypes, a full scale control station, and lots of parts with money left over for test and evaluation out of the USA. Our goals were to do HOMELAND SECURITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES and we had determined we could market numerous missions to various groups.
Then the elections took place and we lost 90m in support. Most of our backers were conservatives with strong feelings about the election. We were forced to re-evaluate our goals and mission plan.
Since then we have regained financial support and hope to secure additional funding for the HAUAV PROJECT. We have been forced to make changes in all areas. Design, payload, mission capabilities, etc. all have been effected. We could change this again.
Flight tests will start in 2010 and continue through 2013. The reason for this is extended flight. We hope to be able to stay up for long periods of time without landing. The longer the better. A decision has been made to stick with environmental studies outside of the USA.
To date we have had no serious problems with the HAUAV prototypes. There have been no crashes. We are working with wing morphing techniques that enhance performance.
We may not stick with the 250m dollar figure as a total cost for this project unless new developements take place. The economy may not allow this. But we do intend to finish the project and to keep this HAUAV PROJECT operational as long as possible.
International corporate sponsors have been approached and we do have interest so just perhaps we will totally recover and complete the 250m dollar effort.
Regardless, we are excited about the future and seek to explore all possibilities in the months ahead.
Jerry Kitchens, President of UNMANNED SYSTEMS OF EAST TEXAS, INC. presently serves as the membership chairman of the LONESTAR CHAPTER OF AUVSI. We take industry growth seriously and seek to encourage student and corporate participation at all levels. It is our hope to see the chapter create a 'LAW ENFORCEMENT PRESENTATION" for one or more of our meetings hoping to aid and assist law enforcement in the use of unmanned systems as part of their arsenal. Also, one of our goals is to assist men and women in military unmanned systems units to return home and participate in our industry. We are attempting to achieve this via the AUVSI.
USET will continue its work in R&D,T&E efforts in all fields of unmanned systems endeavor. We enjoy developing new systems and seeing them perform their missions as intended.
Over the years we have made lots of contacts and friends throughout the UNMANNED SYSTEMS INDUSTRY. We have contacts in the military, intel community, law enforcement, aerospace and unmanned systems industry. We can never say "THANK YOU" enough for allowing us to serve you. Without your interest, encouragement, and business we would of died out long ago. Instead, we are still here even in tough times in the economy. I want to "THANK YOU" for your kindness shown to my mom. She looks forward to seeing and talking with all of you. MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU AND MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA.
